Right Off The Bat
The first line of this New York Times' story on the politeness of New Yorkers is so incorrect and false as to make any informed reader just not want to go further: New Yorkers are known to throw things onto the field at Yankee Stadium when the Red Sox are in town. It's gratuitous and it's incorrect. The only item Yankee fans ever toss on the field when the Red Sox are at the Stadium are home run balls hit by David Ortiz or Manny Ramirez.
