Spitzer Doesn't Want To Hear It

Eliot Spitzer, New York's attorney general and frontrunner in the state's gubernatorial race this year, has hidden a message board on his web site and has removed the cability of commenting on his blog entries. He has also removed previous comments when he provided that capability.

Luckily, via a Google cache search, you can find the hidden link to Spitzer's discussion board here.
And here's a PDF screen capture of his formerly discussion-friendly web page.

One of the last comments placed on Spitzer's discussion board, before he shut the whole works down, ripped into his selection of state Sen. David Paterson to be his running mate. Paterson is proposing legislation to restrict police officers' use of deadly physical force - a proposal that has outraged the law enforcement community.

Here's a message board post that the Spitzer camp doesn't want you to see:

Patterson a joke

Elliot, You have this jokester name David Patterson running on your ticket ad Lt. Gov. I am going to rename him Sheriff Patterson.
By trying to get his bill passed limiting a police officer's use of deadly force, he is trying to bring back the good old days of serial westerns where doc holiday shot a revolver out of black barts hand from 50 yards away. When faced with the REALITY of life or death, you cannot look for the perp's hand or leg to WOUND him. This bill must not pass in where a police officer will be held accountable for homicide if he doesn't wound the perp but Kills him.... I have an idea, lets get tougher on crime. Longer sentences for crimes involving guns. More money for police departments, and better equipped and trained also.... THIS bill will put both law enforcement and the public

To be fair, none of the other candidates in the race provide a message board or the ability to leave comments on their sites. (Tom Suozzi relaunched his web site yesterday, the same day he formally threw his hat in the ring to challenge Spitzer.)

NOTE TO READERS: Comments and contact information on this web site are, er, down - but for technical reasons that are being worked on. If you have a comment on this or any other entry, email emoltzen-at-gmail.com and it will be posted (provided there's no profanity or libel.)
