Terrestrial Radio's Big Problem

The New York Post took a look at how many minutes per hour a variety of city radio stations air, and the numbers aren't pretty.

Consider that if you have a one-hour commute both to and from work, you're subjected to 30 to 40 minutes worth of commercials each day if you listen to terrestrial radio. Is it worth it?

The all-news stations and Howard Stern don't seem to suffer in the ratings for all the commercials they play, but for everybody else it's a dicey proposition.

It's just hard to believe that the quality of traditional radio is so good - so consistently good - that it's worth hours and hours per week of listening to commercials for Proflowers.com or Dial-a-Mattres.

Keep off the last "s" for "suffering through commercials ad nauseum."
