In Sickness and In Better Health Than Single Folks
The CDC has pronounced married people, generally, are healthier than singles:
Some precious gems from this report, include, "Married adults are less likely to be limited in various activities, including work and other activities of daily living." (Emphasis added.) In other words, "Less likely to have a chance to relax." And a warning, "Adults who live in cohabiting relationships are more likely to have health problems than married adults and more closely resemble divorced and separated adults." If you read the full report, here's the kicker: "The first hypothesis—that married adults are healthier than unmarried adults—was generally supported. Married persons were healthier for nearly every measure of health — the one important exception being body weight status." In other words, once you pass the test and she says "I do," it's Game Over! You don't have to worry about doing those crunches every morning to impress somebody. The report's authors obviously have never heard the phrase, "You look good, you feel good."
