Correcting a correction:
The crossword puzzle on Saturday provided an erroneous clue for 7 Down, seeking the answer "salary caps." The clue "figures in major-league baseball" was incorrect because, unlike football and basketball, baseball does not have a cap. (A correction in this space referred erroneously to hockey; it, too, does not have a cap.)
The worst places in a newspaper to make mistakes are obituaries, crosswords and the corrections themselves.
