NY Times Correction Du Jour
If you're going to write a story in your newspaper about an accuracy scandal at another newspaper, you'd probably want to be accurate, no?
An article on Friday about the internal investigation of fabrications by the former USA Today reporter Jack Kelley referred imprecisely to the departure of Brian Gallagher from the executive editor's position and misstated the timing of his announcement. Mr. Gallagher, the paper's No. 2 editor, said that he would give up the post soon after the appointment of a new top editor and that his future at the paper had yet to be resolved. He did not say he was resigning. Mr. Gallagher made the announcement at a meeting of editors Thursday morning, not at a larger gathering of the newsroom staff later in the day.
