Gang Report

From the Nassau County (Long Island) D.A.'s office:

Marvin Osorio, a 21 year-old street gang member from Westbury, has been given the maximum sentence of 25 years-to-life in prison for the August 26, 2001 murder of a 14 year-old girl in New Cassel. Osorio was convicted on March 4, 2004 of Murder in the Second Degree in the shooting death of Jennifer Grimes of New Cassel.

Osorio was the driver of the car from which fellow MS-13 gang member Olvin Reyes, mistaking the victim’s companions for members of a rival street gang, fired the shots that killed her. Reyes, 23, of Roosevelt, was convicted in October 2003 of Murder in the Second Degree. He is awaiting sentencing.

The Nassau County D.A., Denis Dillon, opposes the death penalty.
