Merry Christmas, Red Sox Fans!
"It is time for the Texas Rangers to look forward to the 2004 season with Alex Rodriguez as our shortstop and team leader. As we explored recent opportunities, we always said he would not be traded unless it made our team better, faster. Alex is the best player in baseball and we are excited to have him as a leader in the clubhouse and on the field." ---Tom Hicks, owner, Texas Rangers. There is nothing further to report relating to the consummation of a transaction between the Boston Red Sox and the Texas Rangers involving Alex Rodriguez. No further discussions regarding this transaction are planned. ---Red Sox Executives.

Gee Mr. Hicks, sorry that saving you $81,000,000 wasn't enough for you to make your team better, faster. Of course, given your track record in both baseball and hockey, it's unlikely you would have done anything beneficial for your team with the money, so in that sense it's better that you don't have it, as you would probably have just extended Chan Ho Park's contract with it. The Red Sox will continue to compete for first place with their current roster, the Rangers will continue to finish behind the A's, Angels and Mariners with theirs. Bravo to you, Tom Hicks. Posted by: Jeff at December 24, 2003 12:27 PMi'm sorry but whether you're a red sox or yankees fan you have to admit that this was total bullshit. BOTH teams agreed to the trade and a-rod wasn't getting any MORE money from this. f-ing player's league. same group of shitheads who thought a strike would be a good idea. this is why baseball as america's pasttime is gone. it's a group whining overpaid candyasses.
